Small in size – big in ambition
In the mid-1990s, the miniaturisation of electronics continues to advance. Smaller products require more precise manufacturing processes. We therefore invest in new technologies and continue to expand our expertise in manufacturing high-precision printed circuit boards.
In 1996, Systronics S.r.l. is founded in Arad, Romania, and later becomes part of our group. One year later, we expand our manufacturing solutions to include laser and plasma processes, roll-to-roll manufacturing and photosensitive materials. The combination of these technologies enables conductor tracks and insulation clearances of just 50 micrometres, allowing the manufacture of increasingly compact flexible and rigid-flex printed circuit boards.
The new manufacturing solutions also lay the foundation for further growth. Thanks to the introduction of the latest technologies and production methods, the company can produce twice as much as in 1993 with the same number of employees.
On 24 April 1998, the time has come: we go public on the Swiss stock exchange as Cicorel Holding SA. Access to the capital market lays the foundation for our international growth strategy, while we aim to retain our development and production expertise in Switzerland.
We now have the technological and financial prerequisites for international expansion. But how can a Swiss printed circuit board specialist become an international group of companies?
