The transformation into a development partner
The more complex electronic products become, the earlier development, industrialisation and manufacturing need to work together. Building on the strategic realignment of 2005, comprising the establishment of the EMS division, the renaming to Cicor Technologies and the introduction of Product Life Cycle Management, we increasingly evolve into a development partner across the entire product life cycle. As a result, we become involved in customer projects at an earlier stage.
In 2016, Alexander Hagemann takes over as CEO. In the same year, we move into our new headquarters in Bronschhofen, which brings together product development, engineering, cleanroom manufacturing and small-scale and pre-series production. At our printed circuit board site in Boudry, we also expand our miniaturisation capabilities in 2016: trace widths and spacings as small as 25 micrometres, together with ultra-thin circuits, enable highly miniaturised solutions.
In 2017, we expand our cooperation with leading hearing aid manufacturers and take on more responsibility along the value chain – from engineering and printed circuit boards to electronics manufacturing, tooling, plastic injection moulding, final assembly and system integration.
At the same time, we expand our capacities: in 2018, a new production building for up to 700 employees is built in Arad, Romania. In 2019, the site in Batam, Indonesia, is expanded into a competence centre for precision plastics, while our group revenue exceeds CHF 250 million for the first time.
The combination of development, industrialisation and manufacturing reduces interfaces, accelerates industrialisation and supports a more stable ramp-up to series production. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our global footprint and our support across the entire product life cycle prove to be important stability factors.
The prerequisites for the next stage of growth are now in place. But how can this model be expanded further across countries and sites?
As a global outsourcing partner, Cicor is responsible for the manufacturing of numerous electronic and plastic components for the global hearing aid industry.
